The Basement Doctor of Cincinnati Case Studies: Water intrusion in a basement and crawl space resolved in Loveland, OH
Challenge
A home in Loveland was having problems with water seeping into the basement through some cracks in the walls. The home was built in the mid-1970s, has a poured foundation and there was a sump pump installed. The homeowner called The Basement Doctor of Cincinnati and met with Jeff, a Certified inspector, to find a solution to the problem he was having in the basement and crawl space areas of his home.
Solution
Jeff recommended WaterGuard Basement Waterproofing System, SuperSump with Ultra Sump Pumping System, WellDuct Window Drain, RockWell Egress Window System, and Basement to Beautiful Panels are installed in the basement. In the crawl space area, he recommended the CleanSpace Encapsulation System with CleanSpace Drainage Matting and SilverGlo Crawl Space Wall Insulation.
WaterGuard Basement Waterproofing System is a sub-floor piping system that is installed into the floor along the foundation walls to intercept water that seeps into the basement. The piping system is connected to a sump pump system to pump the water out of the basement.
SuperSump Premier Sump Pump System is a high-end 1/3 hp Zoeller cast iron sump pump. The optional UltraSump is a battery back-up system that will automatically turn on during a pump or power failure. It has its own battery pack and charging station.
A WellDuct Window Well Drain was installed along with a RockWell Egress Window System. The WellDuct Window Well Drain takes the water that accumulates in the window well and drains it into a duct that is attached to the foundation wall on the inside of the basement. This duct drains the water into the WaterGuard Basement Waterproofing system.
Basement to Beautiful Panel is an insulated basement wall product that prepares basement walls for finishing.
CleanSpace Crawl Space Encapsulation System with Drainage matting was installed in the crawl space. The CleanSpace Drainage matting had dimples throughout it to give the water a channel to flow out of the crawl space. The CleanSpace Liner is a 20-mil-thick liner, similar to a pool liner, that is attached to the wall and floor of the crawl space to provide a vapor proof barrier between the ground and the home.
SilverGlo Crawl Space Wall Insulation is polystyrene foam with graphite infused into it so resist heat flow. This makes the crawl space and the floors above warmer in the winter. This also reduces heating costs.
