This basement was an old fieldstone root cellar. Fieldstone root cellars were used back in the day to store food at a cooler temperature. Although these root cellars can come with lots of moisture issues, they are pretty historic and deserve to be preserved. We were able to fix the foundation by applying a waterproofing system throughout the whole foundation by replacing their old sump pump with our newer TripleSafe sump pump. We also applied CleanSpace walls around the stone brick foundation to block out dirt and water. The result is a healthy basement that will last longer and preserve the cool stone foundation.
In Union, KY, this basement wall had started to bow inward due to long-term soil pressure from the outside. Left unaddressed, this kind of foundation damage can worsen over time, putting the home at serious risk. To stabilize the wall, we installed PowerBrace™ steel supports, designed to permanently reinforce and straighten bowed basement walls.
We also protected the area with a full CleanSpace® vapor barrier, helping to keep moisture out of the basement. Along the floor, we installed the WaterGuard® drainage system, which captures and redirects any water seepage to keep the basement clean and dry.
This basement had stained and musty walls and floors before we came and installed our waterproofing system. In the after picture, you can see the SuperSump sump pump, the freshly poured concrete over the under the floor WaterGuard drains, and the moisture proof CleanSpace walls that also help filter water intrusions from the walls to the WaterGuard.
We installed an egress window for this home in Cleves, OH, so that the homeowners can add a bedroom to their basement. In order to count a bedroom in a basement on a home listing, an egress window must be installed for safety purposes. Our RockWell egress well is super durable, beautiful, and allows natural light into the basement.
The best before before and after photos for waterproofing projects are no doubt the ones with CleanSpace walls. They are inexpensive and easy to install, and they do a fantastic job at covering up messy walls. They even tuck into our subfloor drains, which helps direct wall leaks to the sump pump.
