Using PolyLEVEL, an expansive polyurethane foam we lift and level sunken concrete slabs. The foam expands beneath the surface of the concrete lifting the sunken concrete slab. The foam cures over the course of a day leaving a powerful and lightweight foundation beneath the slab. PolyLEVEL is the preferred method over traditional forma of mudjacking or slab jacking.
The left side of this garage in Verona, Kentucky, was settling into problematic soil. This had caused a large crack to appear out of the top left corner of the garage door opening. We underpinned the left side of the garage with four helical piers to stabilize the foundation. We first started the project by exposing the footing, found at the lowest part of the foundation underneath the soil. We then drilled our piers down directly beneath the foundation, and we made sure the piers reached load-bearing strata that won't ever move. We then attached the piers underneath the footing by using our "L" shaped brackets. This step helped transfer the weight of the home to the load-bearing strata that the piers were drilled into. To complete the project, we backfilled the trenches with soil to conceal the system, and then we took points around the garage for documentation purposes. This part of the foundation is now protected against settlement for the lifetime of the structure under our warranty.
A family in Verona was struggling with water seeping into their basement during heavy rains, leaving the space damp and musty. To protect the home long-term, our crew installed a full waterproofing system that included WaterGuard subfloor drains, a TripleSafe sump pump, and CleanSpace vapor barrier.
The WaterGuard drains were set along the inside perimeter to capture groundwater at the wall-floor joint and direct it to the new TripleSafe sump system. TripleSafe provides three layers of pumping protection, including a battery backup, so the basement stays dry even during storms or power outages. To finish the space, we lined the walls with CleanSpace vapor barrier, sealing out moisture and giving the basement a bright, clean appearance.
This combination of products transformed the basement into a dry, usable area while safeguarding the foundation against future water damage.
