We replaced this basement window in Monroe, OH, with an egress window. Now that the egress window is installed, the homeowners can finally begin to build a bedroom for their teenager in the basement. Egress windows allow for emergency exits from a basement, and are required by code to count as a bedroom on listings. Our beautiful RockWell window well has a natural feel and allows tons of natural light into the basement. They also have built-in steps and a cover to keep debris out.
The floor joists in the ceiling of this crawl space were sagging due to moisture damage and insufficient lally column support. This was causing the floors above the crawl space to sag in certain spots. We installed a couple rows of our SmartJack posts to straighten out and support the floors above. We then encapsulated the crawl space with our white antimicrobial vapor barrier, our graphite insulation panels (along the walls), and our automated dehumidifier (not pictured). This encapsulation system will protect the wood from further moisture damage, keeping the framing as healthy as possible. Our SmartJacks are made of galvanized steel, so they won't rust like the existing lally columns were. They are also way stronger than the lally columns, and won't sink into the floor, thanks to their engineered "light bulb of influence" design. This customer was stoked that they could now walk on the first floor of their home without feeling like the floors could cave in at any moment.
This crawl space in Franklin, OH, had succumbed to prolonged moisture exposure. This had caused the fiberglass to become moldy and heavy, must smells to persist throughout the rest of the home, and rust to appear on parts of their plumbing and ducts. We encapsulated this crawl space with our patented CleanSpace vapor barrier to seal out ground moisture and outside air for good. This 20 mil thick vapor barrier is composed of antimicrobial material, and it is super durable and elastic. Now that the crawl space is clean and safe, the homeowners are free to store items down there as an added bonus!
This crawl space in Milford, OH, was struggling to keep out ground water, causing a multitude of problems like musty smells, poor insulation, wood damage, moisture damage, bug infestations, etc... We first waterproofed the space by wrapping the perimeter with drainage tile, and then we hooked up the drainage system up to a sump pump, (not pictured). After waterproofing, we then laid our drainage matting all across the floor, which contains dimples, to help preserve the vapor barrier that we installed over the top of the matting. Lastly, we wrapped the walls with our SilverGlo insulation and installed a SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier to keep the space dry and well insulated.
