Crawl Space Repair Before & After Photos

This home had a crawl space that had moisture issues and it was not very well insulated. We encapsulated using our CleanSpace vapor barrier and our SilverGlo insulation panels. We also installed a SaniDry Sedona to dehumidify, and a SmartPump to pump out water. The result is a well functioning crawl space that will save the homeowners money down the road on their energy bills and costly wood repairs.

This crawl space in West Harrison, IN, was far too nasty for the inhabitants of the home to bare. Above the space, on the first level of the home, were very bad smells. Also, the moldy fiberglass insulation caused allergic reactions for the homeowners, especially during the wettest and hottest days of the year. To improve the air quality throughout the rest of the home, we suggested our encapsulation system. First, we tore out all the moldy fiberglass insulation in the ceiling of the space. To replace the fiberglass, we wrapped the walls with our SilverGlo insulation panels, and we also injected spray foam insulation into the rim joists. To wrap up the project, no pun intended, we encapsulated the entire space with our CleanSpace vapor barrier, which will negate moisture entirely, improving the air quality and the smell of the rest of the home. 

This home in Okeana, Ohio, had a typical gravel-floor crawl space with concrete walls and fiberglass insulation — both showing signs of moisture staining and humidity buildup. The environment was musty, inefficient, and at risk for mold and long-term structural damage.

We transformed the space by removing all of the old fiberglass insulation and installing our full CleanSpace® vapor barrier system, which seals the crawl space floor and walls to block out ground moisture. On the walls, we added SilverGlo® insulation panels — a rigid foam board that not only reflects heat back into the home but also resists moisture. We also applied spray foam insulation in the rim joists to seal air leaks and improve energy efficiency.

Not visible in the photo set are two critical components of this system: a SmartSump® crawl space sump pump to manage any incoming water, and a SaniDry™ Sedona dehumidifier to control humidity and maintain a dry, healthy environment year-round.

To repair this crawl space in Walton, KY, we waterproofed it, encapsulated it, lifted it, insulated it, and dehumidified it. The waterproofing, encapsulating, and dehumidifying processes in the crawl space will make sure it stays bone dry year round. The SmartJacks we installed to lift the crawl space will help keep the floors above even and strong. The SilverGlo insulation paneling we installed will help save the homeowners money on energy. This crawl space in Greenville, OH, was relying on blue insulation foam boards to keep the space warm in the winter. These boards were not effective, as the homeowner noted to us that the floors in their family room above their crawl space were very cold in the winter. On top of that, the homeowner noted that their family room often smelled musty in the summer, when moisture peaks in the space. We ended up encapsulating the crawl space using our SilverGlo insulation panels along the walls, our CleanSpace vapor barrier along the floor, our foam rim joist insulation, and our SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier. Our SilverGlo panels have a higher rated insulation value than the foam boards due to their reflective radiant barrier, which helps reflect heat back into the space.
