The Basement Doctor of Cincinnati Before & After Photos

Our CleanSpace walls were used to create a vapor barrier for this homeowner's crawlspace. Not only do the walls block out moisture, but they also block out bugs, critters, and the cold air. A crawlspace should be treated as an extension of your home, since it contains the air that will eventually be pulled to your living space. 

The floorboards above this crawl space were sagging and cracking because the concrete block columns supporting them were sinking into the soil. Prolonged dry weather had caused the soil to shrink, creating gaps that allowed the concrete blocks to settle further into the ground. With the blocks no longer able to hold the weight of the home's first floor, the structure began to fail.

The homeowners attempted a DIY fix, using a makeshift arrangement of 2x4s and cinder blocks. Unfortunately, this approach lacked the stability and strength needed to support the crawlspace or anchor securely to solid ground.

To solve the problem, we installed our SmartJack Crawl Space Support System. SmartJacks are designed to prevent sinking by distributing the load across their uniquely engineered, bulb-shaped foundation. They're also adjustable, ensuring that the floors remain level and supported over the long term. With SmartJacks in place, the homeowners can now rest assured that their floors will stay strong and stable for years to come.

Concrete is a very heavy material, and when you have thick slabs sitting on top of unstable soil, you could see some pretty large cracks as a result. In the before picture, if you look just under the blue line, you can see how the slab is slanted downwards towards the left. We were able to level the slab by injecting the left side with our PolyLevel foam. Our foam gets injected underneath the concrete, and is strong enough to raise the slab back to where it originally was. We then seal everything with our concrete sealers, which will cover everything up. 

Before calling us, a homeowner in Dayton, KY, faced a common but troubling issue: an unlevel sidewalk and driveway that compromised both curb appeal and safety. Basements that have a lot of water built up around their foundation will likely experience two problems: Bowed walls & water intrusions. Unfortunately for this homeowner in Dayton, KY, they were experiencing these problems. We fixed both problems by installing our interior perimeter waterproofing system and our steel I-beam wall repair system. The steel I-Beams we use are called PowerBraces and are not your average I-beams. They are super strong and corrosion resistant, they are able to straighten walls out over time, and were designed to prevent floor joist damage. They can even be fitted with our WaterGuard subfloor drainage system, as seen in the photo below. After installing our two systems, the basement walls were relieved of tremendous amounts of pressure.
