This homeowner gave us a call and said their homes addition had settled to the left by about two and a half inches. This settlement had caused slight cracking to show in the mortar of the addition. We commonly see additions on homes experience settling, mainly because they are on a separate foundation from the home. Whatever the reason, to stabilize the addition we installed six helical piers wrapped around the corner of the addition. After stabilizing the home by underpinning with our piers, we were then able to slightly lift the corner by two and a half inches to erase the visibility of the cracks. Before Picture

You cans see how the home is sloping towards the right side of the picture. The stair-step cracking out of the corners of the window was a sure sign of settlement.

Stable Corner

This corner of the addition is now stable and warrantied for the lifetime of the structure. We also filled the cracks with a layer of cement so the homeowner can repaint the side of the home.

Concrete Patch

After the piers were installed, we then patched the concrete, leaving the piers concealed.

Helical Pier

Our pier is attached to the footing of the addition. The steel pier reaches far into the soil where the ground is compact enough to guarantee the pier can hold the weight of the home.
