This garage structure in Walton, KY, had a basement wall that was bowing inwards. To fix the wall, we screwed four helical tiebacks through the troubled wall - laterally into the soil - on the frontside of the garage. By using the counteractive force of the heavy soil surrounding the structure, we were able to laterally pull the wall back towards its original position years ago. We then secured the tiebacks with four wall anchors to ensure this wall is stabilized for the lifetime of the structure. Troubled Structure in Walton, KY

This detached garage actually has a basement foundation. The basement wall that was bowing inwards is located on the same side as the garage door, just downstairs.

Bowing Wall in Walton, KY

It may be hard to tell from this photo, but the wall was bowing in the middle. This was due to built up soil pressure that surrounded the wall from the outside.

Tiebacks in Walton, KY

There were four tiebacks screwed through the wall into the soil. We had to excavate the soil to be able to pull the wall back and properly install the system. After the wall was pushed back, we then sealed the wall with a tar.

Wall Anchors in Walton, KY

We then put up blue board styrofoam over the tar to protect the tar sealant when we backfilled the hole with soil after. This helps keep water out. Also, you can see the rods reach far into the yard just left of the photo to ensure we had the proper resistance to tighten the wall.
