This basement in Mason, Ohio, was cold, damp, and unfinished—making it unfit for any remodeling plans. The homeowners wanted to create a comfortable, dry space before moving forward with finishing work, so our team completed a full pre-finishing waterproofing system. We installed WaterGuard perimeter drains, a TripleSafe Sump Pump System, and our insulated Basement to Beautiful wall panels to keep the space dry and energy-efficient year-round. Basement to Beautiful Panels are made of inorganic materials that can't hold moisture, grow mold, or rot—perfect for pre-finishing projects. These panels also come with built in electric channels and studs, allowing for any type of wall product to be easily installed over the top of them. Lastly, these panels tuck right into our subfloor drainage system, they keep basements well insulated, and they act as a vapor barrier to provide moisture protection to any type of wall system that gets installed over them. Basement to Beautiful Panels

These graphite-infused panels are 2.5 inches thick, providing an R-13 insulation value while also directing any wall moisture from the porous concrete down into the subfloor drainage system.

Basement to Beautiful Panels are made specifically for the basement environment. They will not rot, soak up water, or grow mold due to their inorganic nature. You can see their built in studs and electrical channels from this photo as well.

WaterGuard Basement Waterproofing System

The WaterGuard subfloor drains have been installed underneath the floor around the perimeter of the basement to intercept any water that tries to seep into the basement. These drains sit above the footing of the home, which keeps them out of the "mud-zone." In the coves of the basement underneath the floor, we drilled weeping holes to relieve the foundation of built up water and to invite the water into our drainage system. These drains were concealed with concrete, except for their exposed wall flange, which tucks behind the panels. This wall flange design allows these panels to channel any moisture into the subfloor system, all while keeping the space vapor sealed.

TripleSafe Sump Pump System

The TripleSafe Sump Pump System will pump all the channeled water out of the basement. Off to the right of the photo is a battery backup system, which will give the pump power if the homes power were to ever go out. Now that this project is installed, the homeowners can look forward to implementing their finished basement plans without the worry of moisture or loses in energy savings.
