This damp basement in Oxford, OH, needed a new waterproofing system to keep the space dry. We installed our interior waterproofing system, highlight by our WaterGuard subfloor drains, to transform the space. To successfully wrap the basement perimeter with our drainage system, we jackhammered the edge of the basement slab, drilled weep holes in the walls, fitted our drains in the created space, backfilled the drains with stone, and we sealed the drains with a fresh concrete layer of the top of them to conceal the system. This photo shows the trench we created around the perimeter of the basement floor to install our drainage system. We also drilled weep holes at the base of the foundation walls, allowing water trapped behind the walls to drain into the trench. This relieves hydrostatic pressure and directs the water into the drainage system, where it can be safely carried to the sump pump.

This photo shows the drainage system installed inside the trench. The top of the system is covered with a white moisture barrier tape that helps prevent moisture from transferring through the concrete floor. The trench was also backfilled with clean stone to promote efficient water flow into the drainage system.

All the drains connect to this TripleSafe sump pump that we installed. This sump pump system comes with a battery backup system to provide power in case of emergencies. We also installed our dehumidifier to the right of the sump pump to help keep the air conditioned in the basement.
