We encapsulated this crawl space in Tollesboro, KY, to better preserve the foundation of the home. This large crawl space required a lot of work and effort to complete the job, but it is totally worth it. By effectively sealing the space from outside air and ground moisture, we were able to prolong the life of the wooden framing, improve the air quality throughout the rest of the home, and help the homeowners save money on energy costs. Moisture Problems in Tollesboro, KY

The fiberglass in the rim joists had soaked up tons of moisture. This moisture caused mold to grow in the insulation itself. The wooden framing in the space had also soaked up moisture. Wood that is left unchecked in a humid crawl space can fail very fast.

This picture was taken halfway through the project. By this point, we had torn out the fiberglass insulation, wrapped the walls with our SilverGlo insulation panels, and laid our drainage flooring membrane down. The bubbles in the matting help elevate the vapor barrier (which we later installed over the top of the matting) off of the floor. The space also allows water to safely flow underneath the vapor barrier down towards the sump pump.

To complete the project, we installed our sump pump and wrapped the entire space with our 20 mil CleanSpace vapor barrier.
