Driveway Rescue: How We Saved a Homeowner From Another Costly Repour in Cincinnati, Ohio
Challenge
The owner of this driveway had already gone through the frustration of having their driveway completely repoured once before due to cracking and settling. When the concrete began to sink and separate again, they faced a tough decision: go through another costly, messy tear-out and replacement, or find a smarter solution.
This wasn’t a simple leveling job—multiple slabs had shifted at different angles, making the process feel like putting together a giant puzzle. Lifting one section of the driveway could easily cause another slab to dip or tilt in the opposite direction. A precise, patient approach was critical to make sure everything came back together smoothly without creating new problems.
Solution
Instead of tearing out the driveway, the homeowner chose a more efficient and cost-effective option: concrete lifting and stabilization. Our team used PolyLevel, a high-strength expanding foam, to raise the slabs back into position. The foam is injected directly beneath the concrete through pea-sized holes that are virtually unnoticeable once sealed. For this project, we injected around 400 pounds of PolyLevel - an impressive amount considering how lightweight the material is.
Once the driveway was stabilized and leveled, we sealed all cracks and joints with our NexusPro sealant. To enhance the finished look, the sealant was topped with a matching colored sand, blending seamlessly with the existing concrete and leaving the driveway looking fresh and uniform.
The results speak for themselves:
-
Significant savings: The repair was about half the cost of a full tear-out and repour.
-
Quick turnaround: The entire project was completed in just one day, compared to the lengthy disruption of replacement.
-
Less mess: No loud demolition, dust, or heavy equipment tearing up the yard.
This project was one of our trickier ones due to how uneven the slabs were, but with patience, skill, and the right products, we were able to give the homeowner a driveway that looks great, functions properly, and will stand the test of time—without repeating the stress of a full replacement.
