Prolonging the Life of a Cincinnati, OH Driveway
Challenge
This home featured beautiful concrete for the driveway and sidewalks that the homeowner wanted to protect from cracking. The driveway sat at the top of a hill, a location prone to soil washing out from beneath the slabs, a problem we often encounter. The homeowner understood that by using PolyLevel foam, we could stabilize the soil under the concrete, preventing future cracking and preserving the integrity of their driveway for years to come.
Solution
This driveway and the adjoining sidewalks were in excellent condition, (although some slabs had settled a bit) and the homeowner wanted to prevent any cracking caused by shifting soil underneath. Positioned at the top of a hill, the slabs were especially vulnerable to soil erosion, which can create voids beneath the concrete and lead to uneven settling. To address this, we used PolyLevel foam to fill the gaps under the slabs. The expanding foam lifted and stabilized the concrete while supporting the soil, ensuring the driveway remained level and protected against future cracking. Once the concrete was stabilized, we sealed all joints and cracks with NexusPro, a durable, UV-resistant sealant, to prevent water infiltration and give the driveway a finished, uniform look. This approach provided a long-lasting solution without the need for demolition or a full replacement.
