In order to stabilize this homes foundation in New Richmond, OH, we underpinned the foundation with our helical piering system. The home was settling downwards, causing cracks and gaps to appear in the homes exterior. We started the pier installation by excavating around the home. We dug deep enough around the home to be able to expose the underside of the homes footing. After excavating, we then used a drive head on our excavator to drill our helical shaped piers deep down underneath the footing into load bearing soil. Once completed, we then logged the pressure ratings, which will ensure that our piers won't ever move in the future. Next, we attached the piers to the home by using our "L" shaped brackets, which latch right up underneath the footing. Lastly, we used hydraulics to lift the piers upwards, which allowed us to lift the home back to where it was originally built. This installation stabilized the home, and it even closed all the gaps around the home thanks to our use of the hydraulics.
We were called to a home where one room had started to sink, and the floors felt noticeably uneven. After inspecting the crawl space, we found that the existing supports had weakened and could no longer hold the load. To access the area directly above the failing section, we had to carefully cut open the tile and subfloor so we could install new structural support from both sides. Once everything was opened up, we installed SmartJacks in the crawl space and set each one on a solid footing to carry the weight of the room. After the system was tightened and adjusted, the floor lifted back into place and the room immediately felt stable again.
