Basement Waterproofing Case Studies: Mason Church Upgraded with Basement Products

Challenge

This Baptist church in Mason was experiencing issues with leaking wall cracks and egress windows. There were also concerns that in the event of an emergency, there was no good route of escape out of the basement. We were more than happy to provide a solution for this center in the community.

Solution

We installed a series of products in order to create a safer and drier basement in this church. The first thing that we did was dig a trench along the side of the building's foundation and cut a hole through which to install the first of 2 egress windows. We began a similar process on the other side of the building as well in order to install the other window. Once both windows were installed, we fitted the windows each with a RockWell window well and a window well lid. These products provide an attractive, reliable series of exits out of the basement in the event of an emergency.

Once both windows and their accessories were installed, we began working on waterproofing the basement. First, we added a WaterGuard around the perimeter of the basement in order to capture any pooling water and drain it away. We also installed a SuperSump to pump any captured water out of the basement. We finished the system off with an IceGuard in order to provide an alternative exit route for water captured by the waterproofing system in the event that the main discharge line was to freeze or clog.

Then we added WellDuct Window Drains to both newly-installed windows in order to drain any leaking through the windows down to the WaterGuard drainage system. Then we installed some BrightWall wall panels over the leaking cracks in the basement walls in order to channel any leaking water through the cracks down to the WaterGuard.

These products when used together should help to provide the church with a drier, safer, and more attractive basement.

We dug our first trench beneath this window in order to install our first egress system.

This trench was dug along the foundation of the building and is now being fitted for a new window.

After the first window was installed, we added a WellDuct Window Drain to capture any water leaking through the window.

Here you can see the sump port is in the process of being aligned with the SuperSump lid. We have also installed BrightWall panels along the wall - creating a brightened space while also covering leaking wall cracks.

This view through the egress window shows the attractive RockWell Window Well. This fixture is designed to mimic natural stone and provide a pleasant view out of the window while still creating a safe and sturdy pathway of escape in the event of the emergency.
