Challenge

A homeowner in Batavia Ohio noticed some spots and marks on the wall and was concerned about the possibility of a water problem in the basement. He called The Basement Doctor of Cincinnati for help with this problem. He met with our Certified Inspector, Brice, who found that there was a problem with water seeping into the basement. He also noticed a problem with a foundation wall that needed to be stabilized.

Solution

Brice recommended that the homeowner have WaterGuard Basement Waterproofing System, A SuperSump Pump System, UltraSump Battery Backup System and PowerBraces installed in the basement.

The WaterGuard Basement Waterproofing System is a piping system designed to solve basement water problems. WaterGuard is designed not to sit in the soil, so clogging is not a problem. The special wall flange allows water to collect into the WaterGuard where it is safely pumped out of the basement through the sump pump system.

The sump pump system Brice recommended was the SuperSump Pump System. The SuperSump includes a 1/3 hp Zoeller pump, The WaterWatch Alarm will sound an alarm if the water reaches the point that the sump pump should have turned on, alerting the homeowner to an issue before damage can occur. It also has The SuperLiner which features an exclusive pump ring that centers the pump in the liner. The Airtight Lid keeps moisture from evaporating back into your basement, quiets the pump, and the lid is strong enough to store things on top of it.

The UltraSump Battery Backup Sump Pump System. Just as the name suggests, it is a battery backup system. It will turn on automatically if the primary pump fails to run due to power outages, it comes unplugged, or sump pump failure.

He also recommended the PowerBrace system to immediately stabilize the walls. The system is designed to be tightened and can straighten the walls over time. The PowerBrace is a steel beam that is custom-fit and is secured tightly against your basement wall with brackets anchored to your floor joist and basement floor.
