A Lynchburg, Ohio homeowner was concerned about moisture, musty odors and possible mold in the crawl space area of the home. The house is about 15 years old and did not have a sump pump, dehumidifier or vapor barrier installed. The homeowner met with Chris, a Certified Inspector with The Basement Doctor of Cincinnati. Chris recommended that CleanSpace Encapsulation System along with CleanSpace Vent Covers is installed to seal the crawl space. He also recommended Perf Pipe, a TripleSafe Sump Pump System and a SaniDry Sedona Dehumidifier is installed to resolve the problems in the crawl space.
CleanSpace Encapsulation System is a plastic liner, similar to a pool liner, that is installed with special fasteners to the walls and floor of the crawl space. This provides a mold and vapor-proof barrier between the ground below and the home. The CleanSpace Vent Covers help to provide an airtight seal and keep debris from getting into the crawl space. The CleanSpace liner also brightens up the crawl space which makes it easier to access when needed.
The TripleSafe Sump Pump System has three pumps. The primary pump will do the majority of the pumping but if it would fail or become overwhelmed the stronger pump, pump two, will start up giving the primary pump a "turbo boost". The third pump is a battery back up sump pump and comes with its own battery and charging station.
The SaniDry Sedona is a dehumidifier that filters and dries the air. The filter on the SaniDry filters out particles, mold spores, and dust mite droppings. Too much humidity encourages mold growth and musty odors.
He also recommended the Turtl Crawl Space Access System. The Turtl combines a sturdy well and crawl space door that helps to keep the crawl space clean and dry and provides easy access to the crawl space area.
These products working together will keep the crawl space dry and free of mold and musty odors. Whatever is in the crawl space area works its way up into the living area. So a healthy crawl space equals having a healthier home.
