The Basement Doctor of Cincinnati Case Studies: SaniDry used to help resolve water problems in Loveland, OH
Challenge
A homeowner in Loveland was having problems with water seeping into the crawl space. This had been happening for a long time so the homeowner called The Basement Doctor of Cincinnati to find a solution to this problem. The home has a basement and a crawl space with a block foundation and has gravel and plastic on the floor of the crawl space area as a vapor barrier. The homeowner had a dehumidifier in the basement that they had moved into the crawl space. The dehumidifier was producing a whole bucket of water every day in the crawl space.
Solution
The homeowner met with Walt, a Certified Inspector, who recommended that a CleanSpace Liner, SilverGlo Crawl Space Wall Insulation, Spray Foam, and a SaniDry Sedona is installed to resolve the water problems in the crawl space.
A CleanSpace Liner is a 20-mil-thick plastic liner, that is similar to a pool liner, and is permanently attached to the floor and walls of the crawl space. CleanSpace provides a vapor-proof barrier between the ground and the home. This keeps that natural moisture that is in the ground from seeping into the crawl space.
SilverGlo Crawl Space Wall Insulation has graphite particles infused into it to reflect heat. The SilverGlo helps to reduce heating and cooling costs and makes the floors warmer in the winter. The Spray Foam insulation is used to seal the Rim Joist. Unconditioned air seeping into the crawl space causes cold air to come in during the winter and hot humid air in the summer and can cause condensation and moisture.
The SaniDry Sedona is used to keep the humidity low. The filters on the SaniDry are used to filter mold spores, dust mite droppings, and allergens from the air. Having the humidity at an appropriate level will make the environment more comfortable, discourage mold growth and musty odors. The SaniDry drains automatically so there will no buckets for the homeowner to empty.
